Pelee Island

Scotte and I own a little piece of property on Pelee Island, and we had some work to do there so we went last weekend.  Alone.  Without kids.  It was the first time we have been away alone since before I was even pregnant with Liam and he is now two!  We were working much of the time but it was still nice to be alone.

We started with a Friday evening of fun in Windsor, Ontario.  We had to catch the ferry on Saturday morning so we spent Friday evening close by.  We stayed at the Windsor Hilton and it was GREAT!!  Our view from the 21st floor was outstanding!  Much better than the Comfort Inn that we usually stay in with the kids.  Oh, and we went out for Thai food.  It was soooo good that we would have stopped there to eat again on the way home if we had enough time.

So, after a relaxing Friday night we caught the ferry to Pelee and went to work.  It wasn't looking too pretty when we got there.  Our mission was to assemble a storage shed, but first we had to locate the ground.

The air was thick with mosquitoes and we were swimming in poison ivy.  The great thing about a small community like Pelee is that we talked to a neighbor who promptly made a phone call and located the dude with the tractor who could clear our property in 15 mins flat.  Too bad we didn't find him until AFTER we spent a couple of hours digging up/ hacking at plants.

Much better!  The property on Pelee is quite lovely, and if you cross the road then you are at a very beautiful, sandy beach.  I hope our kids will get to spend many summers playing on that beach.  Someday we will perhaps build something but this time we camped, which was great minus the mosquitoes!!

We worked hard but didn't quite finish our task before we had to catch the ferry returning home.  Scotte will have to go finish the shed without me. :(
We managed to squeeze in dinner at the winery.  That was not optional.  It was a pleasant experience, as always.  I love that place!!

Well, Pelee Island, until we meet again...

Thank you, Grammy, for taking amazing care of my littles :)
